Nigerian Suya

Ingredients

  • Beef sirloin, chuck, or ribeye, thinly sliced

  • Carotino Cooking Oil

  • Ola-Ola Suya Pepper Seasoning

  • Garlic powder

  • Onion powder

  • Black or white pepper

  • Salt

  • Optional smoked paprika or cayenne pepper

  • Ground roasted peanuts, optional

  • Sliced onions and tomatoes, for serving

Directions

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 20 minutes to prevent burning.

  2. Pat the beef dry and slice it diagonally into thin, even pieces.

  3. Place the beef in a large bowl. Add Carotino Cooking Oil, Ola-Ola Suya Pepper Seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, and salt.

  4. Toss thoroughly until every piece of beef is evenly coated.

  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to develop.

  6. Thread the seasoned beef onto skewers, keeping the pieces close together.

  7. Sprinkle or brush additional Ola-Ola Suya Pepper Seasoning over both sides of the skewered meat for an extra layer of flavor.

  8. Grill or bake until the beef is cooked through and lightly charred around the edges. If baking, cook at approximately 450°F, turning as needed.

  9. For an extra smoky finish, broil briefly at the end or finish the skewers on a hot grill.

  10. Serve immediately with sliced onions, tomatoes, and additional Ola-Ola Suya Pepper Seasoning to taste.
